For Immediate Release:
Junior Achievement Advocate Wins Inaugural Albert E. Suter
Colorado Springs, Colo. – Junior Achievement (JA) has honored Albert E. Suter, long-time Junior Achievement board member and advocate, as the inaugural recipient of a new national award bearing his name and recognizing exceptional individual leadership. The award, established by the Junior Achievement USA Board of Directors, was presented at its recent board of directors meeting in recognition of Suter’s leadership and his contributions to the organization and to the future success of the nation’s youth.
Subsequently, the annual Albert E. Suter Award will be given to a member of the Junior Achievement USA Board of Directors or a member of a local JA board of directors in the United States, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and made a significant contribution to the advancement of JA’s mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
Future honorees have a lot to live up to in Suter’s example. After a 20-year career at Emerson, he retired as its Chief Operating Officer. He has served on both the local Junior Achievement Board of Directors in St. Louis and on the Junior Achievement USA and JA Worldwide Boards of Directors in nearly every leadership role. His personal and professional commitments of time and financial resources to Junior Achievement are unmatched, and he remains a respected ambassador of the organization, opening the doors of opportunity for young people around the world. When asked the reason for his years of Junior Achievement support, Suter was quick to answer: “Young people must understand the free market system to completely participate as productive, voting citizens. For millions of young people, Junior Achievement is the only source of this much-needed information.”
